Why things suddenly feel harder

ADHD Delta Newsletter

Hey Reader,

There’s a moment I want to zoom in on

Things feel… off

Not completely broken

Just harder than they were

And nothing obvious caused it

So it’s easy to ignore it or push through

But that moment matters

Because something did change

Not always in a big way

Sometimes it’s:

A shift in timing
A different environment
Less sleep
More decisions
A small break in routine

And your brain notices that even if you don’t.

So instead of moving forward, it starts trying to re-orient.

That’s the part most people miss

It’s not just that things feel harder

It’s that your brain lost something it was quietly relying on.

P.S. If you’ve been calling this procrastination, it might be worth questioning that. Sometimes nothing’s wrong with your motivation, there just isn’t a clear place to begin.

Predictability reduces load and restores access for ADHD individuals

ADHD Delta Newsletter Hey Reader, There’s a pattern I see often - and you might recognise it. Things start to work. You find a rhythm, something feels manageable, maybe even a bit easier…and then something shifts. Nothing dramatic. But suddenly it’s harder to get back into it.The same task takes more effort.Starting feels heavier. What felt simple a few days ago now feels unclear or out of reach. It’s easy, in that moment, to think you need to try harder or get back on track. But most of the...

ADHD Delta Newsletter Hi Reader, One of the most meaningful shifts I see in clients isn’t when focus suddenly becomes perfect. It’s when focus stops feeling impossible. When the starting point feels clearer. When beginning no longer carries the same weight. For a long time, many clients have lived with focus that feels unpredictable. Some days they can engage.Other days, even small tasks feel out of reach. Over time, this inconsistency can quietly erode trust in yourself. Not because you...
